Chapter 206 – Storm

The ceilings of this cave were high, as the average height of the ice giants reached eight meters. The collapse occurred almost instantly, but even this short period of time was enough for Ingun.

When everything began to collapse, he was already facing the ceiling. Thanks to the flame of Amita, Shutra saw the falling stones and immediately activated Telekinesis. Streams of power streamed over the soldiers” heads, catching heavy piles of stones and ice.

All this lasted no more than three or four seconds, but even that was enough to save the lives of the soldiers.

– Carra-ha! Karrak issued his battle cry.

Those who have not yet had time to wake up from the noise of falling stones immediately opened their eyes and came to their senses. Ingun deactivated Telekinesis and debris continued to fall to the ground. True, now the soldiers could already react to this.

Dum-dum-dum-dum!

Vandals, ogres, and golems smashed hard rock with their bare hands. The suras wielded their swords with agility, and the dark elves attacked the wreckage with their spells.

Particularly large pieces of the crumbling ceiling were shattered and split into small pieces. At the same time, werewolves transformed into beasts and covered representatives of other races with themselves, acting as human shields.

The shaking continued. Sharp stones slammed into the backs of the werewolves, and the cavern roof continued to tremble.

Felicia, who was between Anastasia and Sylvanas, sighed with relief, seeing that the ceiling stopped crumbling on their heads.

However, it was too early to relax. As soon as the ceiling of the cave collapsed, a wave of cold rushed inside, simultaneously with which a shrill scream was heard.

Something fell on the heads of the unit that could not be stopped with fists and swords.

Fshu-oo-oo-oo!

To call it pouring rain is to greatly downplay the nightmare of this disaster. It was as if hundreds of huge buckets of water had been poured over them.

For a moment, all the warriors froze. The sudden rain made it difficult to even open my eyes.

After a few seconds, the rain stopped. This waterfall fell on them from a great height, however, fortunately, no one was hurt. Some people managed to swallow water, but they were also okay, since there were no poisonous impurities in it.

However, the worst was ahead. They were outside the northern border – on a harsh and barren land.

The cold air seemed to freeze them from the inside. But the bigger problem was that they were all wet through and through.

The wind, which seemed to rip their flesh apart, became a serious threat to the lives of the warriors.

The werewolves, whose clothes were ripped apart thanks to the transformed bodies, were not at all frightened by the currents of cold air at first. However, their wet fur quickly froze, and their body temperature dropped sharply.

And then a blizzard burst into the cave. The wet floor was icy, and the dark elves, crushed from above by werewolves, could hardly breathe.

The vandal could not make a decision. He was the senior general of the Demon King’s Palace. However, he faced such a battlefield for the first time, and therefore could not decide in any way which was better: take off the wet equipment, or just leave everything as it is.

His body was heavy, and a white blizzard severely limited his field of vision.

Anastasia trembled, and her long and beautiful eyelashes turned into ice. As soon as she saw the falling stones, she, without hesitation, covered Felicia’s head. Sylvanas did the same, and therefore the elf did not suffer from the stones, but after only a few seconds a stream of water and terrible cold fell on her.

Lying under Anastasia and Sylvanas, Felicia gasped for air. Looking at the blizzard raging from above, she saw some kind of magic spell. The princess realized that the water pouring out of nowhere onto their unit was caused by transformation magic.

Felicia exhaled. Not only was it very difficult to breathe in this white mist, but the steam coming from her throat instantly froze. Despite this, she managed to activate her magical powers, and therefore soon she felt a little better. This was an extremely dangerous situation. If her body temperature continues to drop, she will die before any battle even begins.

Felicia tried desperately to move her lips. Anastasia also uttered the words of the spell.

They needed to somehow block the wind and blizzard, and then induce heat and keep warm. However, the one who poured water on them did not let them do that either.

Death itself descended from the sky. They were icicles, as sharp as knives.

Ingun rose from the ground and screamed, at the same time pulling the Sword of the Giant King from his inventory.

– Green Wind!

This was not a simple call, but an order to act. Ingun again activated Telekinesis to push the Sword of the King of Giants, and he cut all the icicles flying nearby. Meanwhile, the Green Wind appeared over the Shutra and immediately shared its field of vision with him.

Phew-pew-pew-pew!

Shards of shattered icicles were thrown back into the sky. Looking at them from below, it seemed that thousands of new stars appeared in the sky.

– Kha! Ingun coughed.

The body of the protagonist of the Shutra increased his resistance to cold, however, even he was not immune from such an impact. While the cold seemed to want to reach his very heart, Ingun looked up. In the very center of this magical blizzard, he saw a woman surrounded by a thick layer of ice armor.

Even though Ingun saw her for the first time, he knew who she was. It was Ice Queen Yosarina, the right hand of Archilich Schutenberg. She was a powerful sorceress, capable of using various ice spells.

The presence of one of Schutenberg’s minions made it possible to conclude that this attack was far from an accident.

Archilich has already noticed the march of the Shutra group and has sent Ice Queen Yosarin to these cold lands to stop them. Chris talked about their unit being more like a decoy, while Duke’s Sword said both groups are important.

And now, since the Ice Queen herself took care of them, it means that they were both right.

Ingun was too distracted by worry about the cold. Schutenberg did not rule over absolutely all the territories of the north lying abroad, and therefore Ingun did not think that his unit would fall into this blizzard so early. However, as it turned out, he was wrong. The group was already in the lands of Schutenberg.

Yosarina raised her hand to the sky. Because of the icy armor that surrounded her, she resembled a five-meter giant.

And then the wind brought a new sound to them. It was a low and terrible roar, accompanied by numerous heavy steps that shook the ground.

Green Wind, supporting the wind barrier, looked around in confusion. However, the source of the sound was outside the blizzard. Those who were waiting in the wings outside the cave began to move.

Ice golems, maddened ice spirits, undead yeti and ice giants… Yosarin’s ice army numbered hundreds, maybe thousands of creatures. Ingun mechanically opened the mini-map and saw that it was simply teeming with red dots.

Someone had to resist the oncoming armada. Ingun’s 200 elite warriors were not in the right shape to fight right now. He needed to gain time so that the warriors could at least partially recover.

Yosarina raised her hand again and began to draw a new magic circle.

And Shutra had to stop her.

– Spiritualism! – Ingun shouted, and power filled his body.

Yosarina stopped for a moment and looked at Ingun. He activated the Wind Style on the fly and shouted out another command:

– Caitlin!

He made a choice, and the light of Conquest enveloped the body of the werewolf girl, who at that moment was in the hands of Chris.

Kaitlyn, now an Apostle, growled angrily and rushed forward. However, Ingun did not look back, trying to close the distance to the Ice Queen as quickly as possible.

The distraught ice spirits circling around Yosarina went to Shutra, and the Queen herself began to quickly complete the spell she had begun.

The army of ice monsters has also accelerated. Some even ran, intending to quickly get to the unit locked in the cave.

The floor of the cave trembled from the steps of an army of many thousands. Karrak let out a battle cry as Vandal and his ogres raised their weapons. The dark elves desperately shouted the words of restoration spells to heal the werewolves a little, while the suras groaned painfully, barely holding their swords in their hands.

At this moment, the activation of the spells of Felicia and Anastasia finally finished. A fire barrier surrounded the group, and the warriors were engulfed in the magic of mass healing.

Caitlin raised her head and bared her fangs. Her eyes resembled a wild beast hunting its prey.

Ingun, destroying the ice spirits on his way, understood that the fire barrier would not be able to hold back a blizzard for a long time.

The White Eagle crashed into Yosarina’s armor. Some of her armor cracked, but the Ice Queen did not stop drawing the magic circle.

And now, the spell was completed, and Ingun was already preparing to be doused with a stream of cold water again. However, this magic was different from the first.

The fire barrier collapsed, while Yosarina was not looking at Shutra at all, but at his warriors. The werewolves sensed the impending disaster, and quickly covered the dark elves who were near them.

Seeing all this, Chris broke out in curses.

An ominous sound came from the ground. Looking at their feet, Felicia and Anastasia turned pale.

Groo-gro-gro-groome!

The earth is cracked. Accompanied by a powerful vibration, a giant monster burst out from the ground – an ice worm, completely covered with sharp thorns.

The monster was tens of meters long, and its head was large enough to swallow several people at once.

When the ice worm burst out, dozens of soldiers were knocked down and fell to the ground.

A hellish cold fell upon the unit, and the Queen’s ice army finally arrived at the cave.

The worm continued to rage. The impacts of his enormous body mass on the ground alone were enough to inflict very significant damage. Those who did not have time to run to the side were simply crushed, while others could not even get to their feet due to constant shaking.

Meanwhile, the ice army entered the cave and attacked the soldiers closest to the exit.

Yosarina laughed. It seemed that her laughter intensified the rage of the blizzard even more.

They needed to do something. Shutra had to do something about it.

Ingun concentrated, and the fire of the Last Flame enveloped his body. He needed to leave the ice worm and the army of monsters on his comrades and focus only on Yosarin. Only in this way will they have a chance to overcome this situation.

And the next moment…

Ingun felt an irresistible urge to turn around. Behind the red dots depicted on the minimap, there was another, racing towards them.
