Chapter 230. Epilogue

The battle for the Sanctuary was over, but the north and east were still heavily attacked by the barbarians.

In this regard, Ingun and the other children of the Demon King did not have time to rest. New battlefields awaited them ahead.

In particular, some of the walls of the Aegis Gate collapsed, and the situation in the fortress was extremely serious. Thanks to Baikal and the captains, the Gate was protected, but the barbarian army was still trying to break through their defenses.

Since the new Demon King has not officially ascended to his throne, it was decided to hold a meeting with the participation of royal children and queens to discuss the most necessary measures to protect the Demon World.

After a short debate, it was decided who and where to go, as well as which regions the captains would be responsible for.

Sylvan and Felicia flew west. Chris and Caitlin headed east, while Zephyr and Anastasia decided to accompany the two captains north. Ingun, on the other hand, had to visit the north, west and east in sequence. As the next Demon King, he had to survey all three battlefields.

It took more than two months to deal with all the barbarians in the north and east. The defense of the dilapidated Aegis Gate was especially brutal, but thanks to the combined efforts of four captains, Baikal, Zephyr, Anastasia and Shutra, the fortress was defended.

Three months after defeating the red dragon, Ingun was finally able to return to the center of the Demon World. Baikal stayed in the north to work on the restoration of the Aegis Gate, however, shortly before Shutra left, Baikal assured him of its support.

Despite the fact that Ingun’s candidacy as the next Demon King was almost undeniable, the support of Baikal, the eldest son and leader of one of the three factions, came in handy.

Recognition of the new Demon King went smoothly. There was no civil war, no disputes between the princes, which once again emphasized the importance of supporting Baikal.

Anastasia also expressed her support to him. Zephyr did not make any statements, but two of the three factions already supported Ingun, and therefore his silence alone was enough. After Ingun returned to the area where work was underway to rebuild the Demon King’s Palace, he met with Warrior Locke.

Over the past three months, Locke has visited almost all the battlefields. Having gone through all the difficulties, now they could fully and completely read each other’s thoughts.

That is why Locke immediately understood why Ingun had called him. Standing opposite each other under the bright moonlight that lit up the night sky, the two men laughed awkwardly.

– Well, I think it’s better late than never, – Ingun spoke first.

In his hand, Ingun held the Sword of the Warrior. But instead of immediately taking the blade, Locke folded his arms across his chest and, squinting, asked:

– Are you returning it?

– Well, it’s not for nothing that the sword bears the name of one brave warrior.

Ingun could keep him, but he was uncomfortable. In the Saga of the Knights, Locke was indeed a brave warrior. Moreover, Ingun practiced a fist style rather than swordsmanship, and therefore from this blade he was of little use.

– And, really, better late than never, – suddenly burst out laughing, Locke said.

– The sword is too good, and therefore I return it to you, – Ingun answered with a smile. The two comrades looked at each other and laughed again.

– You know, its name… It’s in your honor, not mine.

– Locke?

Hearing Ingun’s surprised question, the warrior sighed and, for a moment, closing his eyes, answered:

– As you said yourself, this is the Warrior’s Sword. But it was you who defeated the red dragon and protected the world.

A warrior is not just a profession or some kind of prefix to a name.

Those people who managed to overcome the most desperate situations were called real heroes and warriors. They defended their worlds. In this regard, Locke thought that the name of the sword was more peculiar to Ingun than to him.

– Instead of giving me this sword, you better come to the Human World and help protect it if something happens to it. This will be the same business trip as mine in the Demon World.

– Well, I still haven’t figured out all the problems here, – Ingun smiled at him, remembering the Human World from the Saga of Knights.

After talking with the natives, he realized that this world is not at all like a game. However, most of the basic inputs were the same. Unlike the Demon World, which changed a lot after the intervention of the Ingun, it is likely that the Human World was much more reminiscent of the Saga of the Knights.

“Rebellions, civil wars, deranged apostles, eager to call on the god of destruction… Yes, there is more than enough headache.”

The number of events in the Human World was actually even greater than in the Demon World.

Looking at Ingun, Locke frowned.

– What do you mean by “problems”?

– Nothing. It just seems to me that in the near future I will have a lot of things to do.

Ingun put the Warrior’s Sword into inventory and held out his hand to Locke. This time Locke didn’t think for a second before shaking it.

– Thanks again. It was a glorious time.

– Yes.

The comrades exchanged friendly looks. It seemed that through this handshake they expressed what was in their hearts.

Obviously Locke now had to go home. But the warrior could not tell that he was going to do it.

– Aren’t you returning to the Human World?

– Well, now I’ll go with you. You will soon be king, and I cannot miss my friend’s coronation. Moreover, there is no need for an urgent return.

Despite the fact that the fighting had just ended, Ingun still felt uncomfortable.

– Let’s go back. Otherwise, Carrack will clearly ask why two men meet in the middle of the night, “Locke said, clapping him on the shoulder.

– Hmm, yeah, – Ingun nodded and headed back to his chambers. They were embarrassed to maintain a conversation on any of the above topics, and therefore they walked back in silence all the way.

***

With the exception of the 1st Queen Aisha Ragnaros, each of the queens was the leader of their race. Because of this, they tended to reside in their palaces rather than the Demon King’s Palace.

However, things were different last month. The queens stayed not in the Palace of the Demon King itself, but in a small castle built next to it. The construction of the new palace had not yet been completed, and very little time remained before the coronation.

The day after his conversation with Locke, Ingun sat with an extremely awkward expression on his face. It took place in the garden at a white table, where Shutra was the only man present.

The rest were all women: queens and princesses.

– Well, now it makes sense to discuss the issue of marriage, – Anastasia said, putting the cup on the table. Announcing her support for Shutra as the next Demon King, her attitude and demeanor are much simpler than before. Ingun felt that the load was much less.

Ingun himself was silent. However, so did Felicia and Kaitlyn, who sat next to 3rd Queen Sylvia Doomblade and 4th Queen Elaine Moonlight. Both girls had flushed cheeks.

Anastasia looked at them, and then turned to Ingun and, in her usual elegant manner, threw a real bomb at him.

– But which of these two princesses will become the first queen?

Everyone was almost certain that Felicia and Caitlin would become Ingun’s queens. And accordingly, the question arose, which of them will be the first?

– Master, this is some very strange atmosphere, – muttered Green Wind, appearing behind him in a semi-material form.

Conquest also whispered in his ears: “In situations like this, it’s best to stay calm, my lord.

This was really good advice, and therefore Ingun did exactly as he was advised.

Ingun remained silent, and Felicia and Caitlin glanced sideways at each other.

– Eh… I’m older, – the elf opened her mouth first.

After that, Felicia glanced at Caitlyn, as if asking her if everything was all right. Caitlin sighed and muttered softly:

– How cheap, little sister.

Caitlin clearly had no intention of backing down. Whoever said what, but it was about the 1st position. Naturally, the position of the 1st Queen was much preferable to the 2nd.

The queens themselves, meanwhile, just smiled, looking at the sweet quarrel of Felicia and Caitlin.

– Age doesn’t really matter when it comes to the position of queens. The status of a queen does not depend on her age, ” said 2nd Queen Titania with a sigh.

In fact, even 1st Queen Aisha was younger than 2nd Queen Titania.

Hearing Titania’s words, Felicia was upset, while Caitlin, on the contrary, was delighted. However, this only lasted for a second. Like Anastasia, Titania also decided to throw a bomb.

– But if we take into account age… What do you think, Anastasia? Maybe you want to become the 1st Queen?

Dark elves and werewolves, represented by the 3rd and 4th Queens, vied with each other for the right to put their daughters in a higher position. As the queen of the succubus, Titania, too, could not just sit back. Although her voice sounded in a playful manner, Anastasia was not at all embarrassed. Obviously, the mother and daughter have already discussed this point.

– Well, I could be a candidate for the position of queen. Shutra, what do you think? – Anastasia smiled at him elegantly.

Felicia and Kaitlyn looked at Ingun at the same time. Even Green Wind immediately gazed at her master.

– Uh, huh…?

Anastasia as Queen? He never thought about it, and therefore he needed time to collect his thoughts. Whether for political reasons or for some other reason, such questions were not at all a joke.

“Actually, there’s an even better proposal,” Titania said suddenly as the atmosphere in the garden began to heat up.

When everyone concentrated their attention exclusively on her, she slightly shrugged her shoulders and said:

– If you are planning politically motivated marriages, wouldn’t it be better to marry the rulers of each race? What do you think, Shutra?

– Uh, huh, what? – Ingun muttered in bewilderment, not immediately understanding what she meant.

Elaine giggled, and Anastasia and the other princesses immediately stared at Ingun.

– This is a good idea, albeit unprecedented. But wouldn’t that be the most correct choice from a political point of view? What do you think, Sylvia?

“Stop joking,” Sylvia snapped.

Felicia and Caitlyn breathed out, and Elaine threw up her hands in frustration.

– Oh, that would be so much fun, – she winked at Ingun. Shutra tried to ignore Elaine’s gaze, but then Titania’s voice came again:

– Shutra, you can visit me sometimes.

Ingun did not know what to say, and again decided to remain silent. This time, however, the silence was clearly inappropriate, so Felicia narrowed her eyes angrily and Caitlin sighed.

– My lord, keeping quiet for too long is also bad.

– Sir, I agree with the thief.

Feeling all these looks on him, Ingun smiled bitterly. He hadn’t done anything wrong yet, and they were already burning right through him.

“Karrak, how I miss you,” Ingun raised the cup, remembering Carrack’s grinning face.

He wanted to use Summon to summon an orc, but he couldn’t.

“Count” Karrak, the first assistant of the future Demon King, recently returned to his hometown with his wives. This was his first vacation after meeting with Ingun, and therefore he could not afford to pull him over trifles.

– And so, Shutra, who will be your 1st Queen? – Anastasia asked elegantly, and Ingun laughed awkwardly, being under the gaze of those around him.
